Born on June 23, 1875 in Toledo, Ohio, Jerry Nops (Jeremiah Henry Nops) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 6 year career. Nops broke into the bigs on September 7, 1896 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.81 ERA in 220.2 innings pitched in 1897, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jerry Nops's best season was 1897, when he posted a 2.81 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 69 batters.
