Jerry Lumpe (Jerry Dean Lumpe) was born on June 2, 1933 in Lincoln, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1956 for the New York Yankees. In 1958, his rookie year, he hit .254 with 3 home runs and 32 RBI. Lumpe played for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 12 year career.
Most people believe that Jerry Lumpe's best season was 1962, when he hit for a .301 average and knocked in 83 runs.
