Born on December 3, 1943 in Miami, Florida, Jerry Johnson (Jerry Michael Johnson) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays over the course of his 10 year career. Johnson broke into the bigs on July 17, 1968 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.24 ERA in 80.2 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jerry Johnson's best season was 1971, when he posted a 2.97 ERA, won 12 games, notched 18 saves and struck out 85 batters.
