Born on March 4, 1888 in Seymour, Illinois, Jeff Pfeffer (Edward Joseph Pfeffer) played for the St. Louis Browns, Brooklyn Superbas, Brooklyn Robins, St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 13 year career. Pfeffer broke into the bigs on April 16, 1911 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 1.97 ERA in 315 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Jeff Pfeffer's best season was 1916, when he posted a 1.92 ERA, won 25 games and struck out 128 batters.
