Born on August 4, 1966 in Durham, North Carolina, Jeff Johnson (William Jeffrey Johnson) played for the New York Yankees for his entire 3 year career. Johnson broke into the bigs on June 5, 1991 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 5.95 ERA in 127 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte before being drafted by the Yankees in the 1988 amateur draft. He played his entire major-league career for the Yankees, starting on June 5, 1991 and ending on June 12, 1993. He wore uniform number 43 during most of his career, except for wearing 49 for part of 1992 . He was released by the Yankees on September 17, 1993 and signed by the Cleveland Indians on February 9, 1994; however, he never played a game for the Indians.
