Born on January 4, 1962 in Birmingham, Alabama, Jay Tibbs (Jay Lindsey Tibbs) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 7 year career. Tibbs broke into the bigs on July 15, 1984 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.86 ERA in 100.2 innings pitched in 1984, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Jay Tibbs's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1985, when he posted a 3.92 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 98 batters. However, others believe that it was 1986, when he posted a 3.97 ERA and struck out 117 batters.
