[edit] BiographyAcquired Drafted by Calgary in the fourth round (34th overall) in the 1994 CFL Canadian Draft. Played in all 18 regular season game including the Western Semi-Final...was named to the Western Division All-Star team for the fourth time in his career...he was also the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for the fourth time in his career...and for the first time in his career Jay was awarded the team’s President Ring Award winner as the most inspirational player on and off the field voted upon by his teammates. Played in all 18 regular season games...was named Western Division All-Star for the third time in his career...he was also named the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman for the Stampeders. Played in 12 regular season games...missed the first 6 of 7 regular season games due to a calf injury...returned to the lineup in week 8 against the B.C. Lions and played out the rest of the season...after returning to the line-up, Jay improved throughout the season re-gaining his all-star form. Played in all 18 regular season games...for the second consecutive season Jay represented the Stampeders as their Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman...was named a Western Division All-Star for the second consecutive season...was the only Stampeder named to the All-Canadian team...also for the second consecutive season. Was on a tremendous off-season conditioning program...bulked up to an impressive 308 lbs … started all 18 games, plus the Western Semi-Final against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Played in all 18 games, plus the Western Final against the Eskimos...started at right guard for the entire season. Suited up for 17 regular season games replacing Bruce Covernton on the roster...started his first ever CFL game in Birmingham against the Barracudas, [[[August 26]] when offensive tackle Rocco Romano suffered back spasms in warm-up and could not play. Dressed for 4 games in his rookie season...primarily used as a back-up on the offensive line...first ever CFL game was in the nation’s capital on August 3rd against the Ottawa Rough Riders. College Spent four years at Kent State...named MAC All-American in 1993...in 1991 Jay played in all 10 games starting the last 7...he also received honourable mention on the All-MAC team...was red-shirted in 1990. Other Lettered four times in football at Saunders Secondary High School in London, Ontario . . . attended the same college as punter and former Stampeder teammate Tony Martino ... was a Stampeder 4th Round Draft Pick in the 1994 CFL Canadian College Draft ...
