• November 18, 1997 : Drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays from the Pittsburgh Pirates as the 14th pick in the 1997 expansion draft.

• March 29, 1999: Traded by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named later and Danny Clyburn. The Baltimore Orioles sent Angel Volquez (April 22, 1999) to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to complete the trade.
