Japan Wins WBC Crown

8
Vote

Japan earned the first WBC crown, beating Cuba 10-6. Ichiro Suzuki led Japan's effort, reaching base three times and scored three times. Japan scored four times in the first, and while Cuba worked their way back into it as the game went on, four more runs in the top of the ninth sealed Japan's victory. Daisuke Matsuzaka, who started tonight and allowed one run in four innings, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Akinori Ostuka picked up the save after entering the game in the eighth inning.

I hope all the Americans and Dominicans who were invited but declined to play are happy now. Way to go, Japan!
