Born on December 14, 1909 in Havana, Arkansas, Jim Walkup (James Elton Walkup) played for the St. Louis Browns and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 6 year career. Walkup broke into the bigs on September 22, 1934 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 6.25 ERA in 181.1 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.
