Jim Smith (James Dale Smith) was born on September 28, 1922 in Alto, Texas. After going to high school at Centennial (Pueblo, CO), Smith attended the University of Colorado. Smith made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the Los Angeles Dons. He played for the Los Angeles Dons for his entire 1 year career.
