Jake Wells (Jacob Wells) was born on August 9, 1863 in Memphis, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on August 10, 1888 for the Detroit Wolverines. Wells played for the Detroit Wolverines and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 2 year career.
