Jake Thielman
[edit] Biography
Born on May 20, 1879 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Jake Thielman (John Peter Thielman) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Naps and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 4 year career. Thielman broke into the bigs on April 23, 1905 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.50 ERA in 242 innings pitched in 1905, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Jake Thielman's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1905, when he posted a 3.50 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 87 batters. However, others believe that it was 1907, when he posted a 2.33 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 56 batters.
