Jake Early (Jacob Willard Early) was born on May 19, 1915 in King's Mountain, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on May 4, 1939 for the Washington Senators. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .257 with 5 home runs and 14 RBI. Early played for the Washington Senators and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that Jake Early's best season was 1943, when he knocked in 60 runs.
