[edit] Biography
Jacoby Ellsbury is the first Native American of Navajo descent to appear in a Major League Baseball game, and is listed as a part of the Colorado River Indian Tribes. When it comes to baseball, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2002 (23rd round), but opted to attend Oregon State University instead. He was redrafted in 2005 by his current team, the Boston Red Sox.
Jacoby made his major league debut on June 30, 2007. He soon earned himself well deserved playing time on the major league roster. During the 2007 World Series, the Red Sox seemed to turn around their offensive struggles when Jacoby was inserted into the starting line-up. He was a key cog in leading the Red Sox to the World Series.

[edit] Scouting Report
Hit .353 for Boston in 116 regular season AB's, then upped the mark to .438 in the postseason. Plus speed, stole 50 of 57 attempts last season. Takes good routes and gets good reads off the bat in CF, speed just another plus in the OF. Has an inside out swing totally devoid of power, has 10 career homers in over 1000 career atbats. Arm is below average. Red Sox put him on an off-season strengthening program and feel 10-15 homers to be a realistic goal. Ellsbury's 2008 location is dependant on incumbent his spring training and whether he earns the starting job in center field.

[edit] Trivia
- On October 27, with his 2 doubles off of Josh Fogg in top of the third inning of World Series Game 3, he became the first rookie, and joined Matt Williams (2001) as the only players to hit 2 doubles in the same inning of a World Series game.
- His 4 hits, including a single in the first inning, made him only the third rookie to ever accomplish the feat in the World Series; the others were Joe Garagiola (1946) and Freddie Lindstrom (1924).
- Ellsbury hit the first ever three-run single in playoff history. He hit it against Los Angeles Angels' Joe Saunders. Jed Lowrie scored all the way from first base thanks to some miscommunication from Howie Kendrick and Torii Hunter.
