Jackie Slater (Jackie Ray Slater) was born on May 27, 1954 in Jackson, Mississippi. After going to high school at Wingfield (Jackson, MS), Slater attended Jackson State University. Slater made his professional debut in the NFL in 1976 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams and St. Louis Rams over the course of his 20 year career.

Most people believe that 1983 was Jackie Slater's best year.
