Jack Kemp (John French Kemp) was born on July 13, 1935 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at Fairfax (Los Angeles, CA), Kemp attended Occidental College. Kemp made his professional debut in the NFL in 1957 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers the entire time. Kemp also played in the AFL for 9 years, playing for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Chargers over the course of his 9 year AFL career.

Most people believe that 1960 was Jack Kemp's best year, as he threw for 3018 yards, tossed 20 TDs and ran in 8 TDs.
