Jack Phillips (Jack Dorn Phillips) was born on September 6, 1921 in Clarence, New York. He made his Major League debut on August 22, 1947 for the New York Yankees. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 1 home run and 13 RBI. Phillips played for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Jack Phillips's best season was 1950, when he hit for a .293 average.
