College Ruffin's speed and athleticism solidified his position as a key figure in the revamped Vandal secondary in 2004 although he split time as a sprinter on the UI track team...Ruffin played in five games and started three in 2003...In that abbreviated appearance, he had 32 tackles (24 solo, eight assists), two pass breakups, one tackle-for-loss, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and one blocked kick...He had a career-best 11 tackles at New Mexico State, the game during which he also had a career high nine solo stops...Ruffin played for Citrus College at Azusa, California...He was an all-conference and all-state honoree at receiver and defensive back...He also ran track and was similarly recognized on the all-state and all-conference teams...In addition, he was a captain for both squads and was a scholar-athlete.
