Iverson Demands Trade

11
Vote

With the Philadelphia 76ers sitting at an awful 5-12 (a bad mark even by Eastern Conference standards), Allen Iverson has reportedly demanded that Philly GM Billy King trade him to a contender. According to insiders, interested teams include the Celtics, Nuggets, Warriors, Timberwolves, and several others. The New York Post reports that King would even be willing to surrender Andre Iguodala or Samuel Dalembert to make a deal happen, and he is also interested in ridding the Sixers of Chris Webber and his unwieldy contract. Equal value for A.I. may be difficult to acquire in a trade, however, because Iverson's contract is just as bloated as Webber's. Still, dealing Iverson seems to be priority number one for Philadelphia's front office.

This rumor mill with the exact same mentioned teams has been floating around since last years trade deadline. The question is which team is willing to change their entire format to take on Iverson.

The difference is that Iverson's never flat-out demanded a trade before. But, I agree, it will be hard to get equal value, and whoever gets him will have to make wholesale changes to the offense. I just don't think Melo or Pierce could coexist with Iverson in an offense. Iverson and Garnett in Minny would be intriguing, but I don't know who they would send over in a deal. Either way, this isn't going to end well for Philly...

Priority number one for Philadelphia's front office seems to be to not field a contender and further torture the Philly fan base.

If a deal to ship Iverson does go down, it may be the ugliest deal in NBA history. I cannot see an easy way out of this one for anyone.

Iverson, Starbury and Franchise on 1 court at 1 time in 1 big backcourt. That would make me become a Knick fan, Id even venture out the the Garden just to watch the circus come to town.

I think Iverson would lead the league in steals if he were a Knick - of course, he'd be stealing the ball from Star, Craw, Nate and Franchud all game...

Yeah, but Isiah will demand Webber and a Eric "Badlands" Booker-sized bag of crack (I can tell he's running low on crack because he hasn't REALLY screwed anything up lately) be thrown in on the deal too

With a starting lineup of Francis, Marbury, Iverson, Crawford and Eddy Curry, the Knicks would set a record for fewest assists in a season... whoever takes the inbound pass is the shooter. On the flipside, Isiah wouldn't have to create any plays...

I say switch Curry with Nate Rob (better shot blocker) and LESS assists yet...

If I'm not mistaken, you can get an assist for the pass inbounds...

The team wouldn't win many games, but I wouldn't want to play against them (personally that is... too much running around for me)

Iverson to MN for anyone not named McCants, James, Foye, or Garnett... Id take it even if we had to give up a bunch of first round picks

It's fun to see actual GMish conversation going on here... I nominate FProph as the designated deal rescinder of the group... Just trade James, with Iverson, you'll no longer need James (or his contract) anyway...

thanks Manny, I'll trade them James, Blount, Davis, Jaric, and the above first round picks for AI. They take it because they get 3 decent players, and essentially a player to increase value and a bunch of Picks. The Wolves would become locks to make the playoffs.

and that's why I say he ends up in Atlanta, who needs draw more than youth anyway, has the tradeable talent (read= we're not resigning anyone until ownership gets fixed) an cap space to take on $$$. The only thing Atlanta doesn't have is a bevy of future picks (THANK YOU, Joe Johnson trade!!!!)

unless MJ grows a sack and makes a trade in Queen City, ATL is the only real fit... Just in time to save the Falcons' asses after they go flip out the dirty-dirty by making the move to Matt Schaub, right?

he's going to be wearing either a Clipper's uniform, or Timberwolves i believe...i wouldn't even be surprised if the knicks made a jump for him, they have so much wasted talent on that team.

KNICKS - Allen Iverson

76ers - Malik Rose, Quentin Richardson, Jamal Crawford, draft picks
