Ivan Schottel (Ivan Estill Schottel) was born on October 11, 1920 in Cosby, Missouri. After going to high school at King City (MO), Schottel attended Northwest Missouri State University. Schottel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1946 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1946 was Ivan Schottel's best year.
