Ivan De Jesus (Ivan (Alvarez) De Jesus) was born on January 9, 1953 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He made his Major League debut on September 13, 1974 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1977, his rookie year, he hit .266 with 3 home runs and 40 RBI. De Jesus played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Ivan De Jesus's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1979, when he hit for a .283 average and knocked in 52 runs. However, others believe that it was 1978, when he stole 41 bases and hit for a .278 average.
