Italy VS Germany: Why America Hates Soccer

It was a very contested matchup throughout. In the words of Rasheed Wallace, both teams played hard. After ninety minutes of regulation, the score was still 0-0, forcing the teams to go to a fifteen minute overtime. As expected, they had to play a second overtime where Italy scored its first goal in the second to last minute. Having played their best defense yet finding themselves down a point, the demoralized Germans practically conceding another goal to lose 0-2 to Team Italia.
In any other sport, the close game would be exciting...BECAUSE THERE ARE POINTS ON THE BOARD. In basketball, teams trading buckets in crunch time has fans on the tip of their seats. In tennis, the two athletes slamming winners or hitting unforced errors send the crowd into "YEAHHHHH!!!" or "awww"
Though a very exciting finish, it really was not worth the 119 minutes I had just watched. I found myself constantly flipping the channel to VH1, watching why Nick and Jessica broke up. And they broke up how long ago?
America just does not have the patience to watch a game where nothing happens. If someone did watch the game and missed the finish, that person was probabbly like "oh...whatever...time for Hogan Knows Best"
