[edit] Team History
Italy are the most decorated European nation in the sport of il calcio, as it is called in Italian. They have won the World Cup 4 times, second only to Brazil in this category.
The Italians can also boast of one of the strongest domestic leagues in the world. Serie A is regularly debated as "best league in the world" with Spain's La Liga and England's Premier League. As a testament to the league's strength, every player on Italy's World Cup winning side in 2006 was on the roster of a Serie A club.
[edit] Crest, Colors, Kit
The traditional Italian kit features a blue shirt with white shorts. The national team's nickname, Azzurri refers to the blue color that the team sports.
