Italian Match Fixing Scandal Goes On

The four Serie A clubs, Lazio, Fiorentina, Juventus and AC Milan had the replies to their match-fixing appeal earlier today.

The new results are:

• Lazio - Back into Serie A, points penalty fixed at 11 points
• Fiorentina - Back into Serie A, points penalty fixed at 19 points
• AC Milan - Back into Champions' League, points penalty reduced from 15 to 8 points
• Juventus - Still in Serie B, points penalty reduced from 30 to 17 points

As a result of this:

• Palermo are no longer in the Champions' League
• Leece are relegated to Serie B
• Treviso are relegated to Serie B

The clubs are set to continue appealing.

Bogus! They should've kept the original sentences. Now Juve looks like they're the only ones being penalized.

Milan is really getting off scot-free. The one hope of a real penalty may come from UEFA (Europe's soccer body) denying Milan entry from Champions League, a move that has precedent as Marseille was denied (as defending champions of all things) in '93.
