Italian Match Fixing Punishments Released

The fallout from the Serie A soccer scandal has reached punishment for the four teams involved. Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio, and Fiorentina have all been docked points, lost their positions in last year's results, and will not be playing in European play this year (Juventus, AC Milan, and Fiorentina all qualified for Champions League and Lazio for UEFA Cup). For all but Milan it also resulted in relegation to Serie B, the second tier of Italian football.
Here are the individual sentences:
- Juventus: Stripped of their 2004-05 and 2005-06 titles, fined more than $100,000, and relegated to Serie B and docked 30 points to start the season.
- Fiorentina: Relegated to Serie B, docked 15 points for next season.
- Lazio: Relegated to Serie B, docked 7 points for next season.
- AC Milan: They'll remain in Serie A, but they'll be docked 15 points. 44 points were docked from last season's total, rendering them out of European play.
To put it into persepective, Juventus (the center of implications) will have its first 10 wins neutralized.
