It Wasn't A Surprise: Girardi Agreed To Yankees 3 Year Deal

10

by Kenrick Thomas

Joe Girardi has agreed to a three year contract with the New York Yankees. It makes sense, because Girardi has experience. Hiring
Girardi will help the Yankees, and they'll prosper.

Everyone is satisfied, because Girardi could bring success. He won the 2006 National League Manager of the Year with the Florida Marlins.

"Joe Girardi is a good man," Joe Torre said. "He's got a feel for this organization."

Organization comfort is important, because the Yankees can't fail.

Yankees fans won't accept failure, because winning is a part of the "Yankees culture."

Girardi is 43 years old, and smart. He has knowledge and great experience with the Yankees. It's a perfect choice, and nothing went wrong.

Managing the Marlins was a nightmare, but it's easier with the Yankees. The Yankees have talent, and winning experience. Girardi's job will be easier, because the Yankees are better.

Unfair relationships and small talent caused failure in Florida. It's different with the Yankees, because everyone wants to win.

Girardi is young compared to Torre and that helps, because his future could remain. Torre was old, and that caused his departure. He couldn't win, and his confidence failed. Girardi has energy, and confidence isn't a problem. He brought success to the Marlins, so the Yankees shouldn't be worried about winning.

The contract hasn't been signed, but it'll happen later today; it's three years worth 7.5 million dollars.

Former Chicago Cubs pitching coach Mike Harkey will be brought over to help Girardi, makes since because the Yankees lost their pitching coach.

Girardi played with the Yankees from 1996-1999, so nothing is new. He's formula with the players, and has great relationships with them. That's important, because players and managers should work together.

Coaching talent is great for Girardi, it's the reason Girardi turn down the Baltimore Orioles offer.

"Don (Mattingly) was extremely disappointed to learn today that he wasn't the organization's choice to fill the managerial vacancy," Mattingly's agent, Ray Schulte, said. "Instead, he was informed the organization offered the position to Joe Girardi."

Mattingly shouldn't be disappointed, because it helps the Yankees. Girardi is great, and the Yankees could succeed with him.

"It's like following John Wooden or something," Mattingly said. "This guy wins championship after championship and we're in the playoffs in every year."

"It's pretty much a no-win situation for someone coming in here to be able to live up to the expectations or live up to what he did. It's not going to happen. So as far as someone coming in and taking over this job, it's not necessarily a great situation." said Mattingly.

Mattingly should grow up, because he sounds "stupid." He's jealous, and that's wrong. This isn't High School, its Major League Baseball. Act like a man, and be happy for the Yankees.

Mattingly isn't returning this season, and that explains his feeling towards the Yankees.

Torre and Mattingly going to the Dodgers has a very distinct professional wrestling plot-twist analogy. Is the new MLB the old WWF(E)?

Torre will dye his hair blond, get Nicholson's sunglasses and call himself "Hollywood"

Mattingly will dye his fu manchu white and wearing bandanas and get a leathery tan.

"No, Torre! Nooooooo!" - as Steinbrenner gets hit with chair

No matter how this scenario is dissected, Don Mattingly got completely facked over by the Yankees, as is Grady Little by the LA Dodgers. Perhaps Little can poach a job with the Rays?

Mattingly's never managed before, at any level. You really want to trust him with a really good team in the spotlight of New York?

I could give a flying fack who manages the Yankees. However keep in mind that Boss George practically dragged Mattingly off the golf course to be groomed as the next manager.

I agree with you about Girardi. He's clearly the most qualified candidate. Suprises me about the pitching coach, thought it would be Dave Eiland who worked with Yankee kids in minors.

It was a case of experience versus no experience and managing Yankees is no place to be learning how to manage. Not sure if Mattingly has even managed in minors...if not one more reason to hire Girardi. Mattingly was my sentimental favorite to get the job but whichever Steinbrenner is calling the shots are not in the mood to go for sentimental favorite so picked Girardi.

Was almost 100 percent sure Mattingly would get the job and think he was too which showed by his disappointment...can't blame him for not wanting to be in same dugout with Girardi..it would have been a lose-lose proposition for both of them.

Leave it to the NY Yankees to screw over one of their "living legends" in this situation.

The classy option would've been offering Mattingly a VP position of overseeing the beverage cart or something. Anything but teasing the guy for a few seasons like some donkey pulling a cart with a carrot dangling in front of his face.

The Yankees got their man as manager. Whoopy-doo. But only at the expense of embarrassing Mattingly.

What would really be facking hilarious is if the Yanks and Dodgers meet in the World Series next year, and the Dodgers kick their ass. I'll be rooting for them, damned straight! (unless ARod's a Dodger, then fuck him.)

Success is one thing, results are another. I think Steiny is more concerned about the latter. I think most teams would perceive a playoff birth as a success, but a WS victory is the only result.

Yea, but the Dodgers need to make some changes to be successful
