It’s About Damn Time Bowen’s Antics Get Shutdown Instead of Always Getting a Free Pass!

Look, I was always taught if it talks like a duck and walks like a duck, chances are that it’s a duck. Although Bruce Bowen doesn’t speak the language that Donald or Daisy does, he needs to be thrown into this category…For yes, Double B is a dirty and filthy duck! All the NBA teams as well as every single freaking player knows that it’s not just "good aggressive, hard nose, in your jock," whatever else Bowen claims it to be, but rather his tactics in locking down somebody at times are best suited for the Ultimate Fighting ring rather the NBA hardwood.

For years now claims have been made about Bowen’s "aggressive" style of defense…And all I have to say is it’s about damn time the league steps in. Well hallelujah, the league finally looked into Bruce Bowen's actions after he has once again put himself in the spotlight during this Suns series. I know…Baby Step here. One thing at a time, right? While sitting in my LoveSac Saturday night, (a LoveSac is one of those "newage" beanbag chairs that gives everybody that warm and fuzzy feeling) I, like most watching Game 3 on the boob tube laid witness to Steve Nash falling to the floor like a ton of bricks after taking a shot to the grapes…Compliments from none other than Bruce. For some reason I failed to see how this little action was in the overall scheme of "good aggressive, hard nose" defensive, perhaps it’s jus me though? I mean, the NBA certainly doesn’t see a problem with this. Although this I guess clearly defines what "in your jock" means.

Nash declined after Saturday's game and again Sunday to voice any public displeasure with Bowen's physical play. But the league decided anyway to conduct a full investigation into this incident after declining to do so when Bowen was accused of intentionally kicking Amare Stoudemire in Game 2. So what does this tell us? If you want to play dirty go for the achilles…Not the grapes! The question still remains, what took the league so damn long to review Bowen in the first place. It’s been a known fact for years…When there’s smoke, there’s usually fire! And well, Bowen creates more smoke than the current wildfires raging out of control in Georgia and Florida! One thing is for sure, and BB is definitely out of control at this point!

The body of work just in this series should’ve cost Bowen at least a game. Although if the league wants to send a message all they’d have to do is look at past instances, but they once again let him slide. Why though? It’s not like this is new for BB…He has created a list of them that rivals Pacman Jones’s. You can't kick members of the other team as they go in for dunks and you can't knee two-time MVPs in the crotch. It’s difficult to understand why he’s been labeled a "great defensive" player when he has to use some tricks of the trade that by no means belongs in the game. Last time I checked to be able to play basketball one didn’t have to have the ability of Robbie Gould.

Could this be the precise reason why he has indeed been known for one…Because nobody knows how they’re going to be taken out next and what cheap shot will be delivered! Afraid they’re going to catch that flying elbow that the Macho Man made famous…Or perhaps looking out for the "Big Boot" from the Hulkster himself. Maybe even a good ole fashion guitar over the noggin giving praise to the Honky Tonk Man. I mean what’s next Bruce? A cheese grader to the eyes of Deron Williams in the Western Conference Finals if the Spurs & Jazz advance?

The NBA always publishes their NBA All-Defensive Team and Bowen’s always on there. However, of all the other players that make the team…No one other then BB always seems to be answering the question of whether his play is dirty or not! The other four who made the NBA All-Defensive First Team this season included…. Tim Duncan, Marcus Camby, Kobe Bryant, Raja Bell. None don’t seem to exhibit these actions, now do they? Are these four considered "dirty". Sure, everybody has had their moments…And well, Kobe did make headlines this season for his questionable play…Although he was punished immediately! And yet Bryant didn’t even have a laundry list of questionable moments until this season…But yet, he felt the hammer! I though there’s always was a difference between moments and compiling a resume!

I'm glad the league is finally at least look at this…It’s been long over due! Now did Bowen end up being suspended for will actions? No. Should this surprise us? Well, depends on how one see the glass…Is it half empty or half full? Do they merit some sort of punishment? Of course! It’s gone on far too long for something not to be handed down! Isn’t it so good to see that the league swallowed its grapes here once again by turning the other check and letting another Bowen trick slide. Shouldn’t they have decided to put this fire out completely instead of just let linger until the next time it flares up again? We all know it’s just a matter of time before it does again

[[Media:LastRowSports.com Vote in LastRowSports.com which asks the question of the outcome of the latest “Golden Boy Productions Main Event”. In one corner is Donald “The Apprentice” Trump…In the other is Mark "The Benefactor" Cuban. We assure you that by voting in this poll you won’t stand to lose the $44.95 pay-per-view fee! Although we make no guarantees that Rosie O’Donnell won’t chime in with her “view”.]]

The Spurs have been a dirty team for years. They like to take cheap shots and then flop. That's why they are such a boring team to watch. Bruce Bowen has been a thug for a long time. it's time for the league to do something about it. When players like Ray Allen, Amare Stoudamire, and Vince Carter have spoken their mind on Bowen, something has to be done.
