It's time to party like it's 1995!

It's been awhile since I could say this, but I am absolutely psyched to be a Cleveland Indians fan.

Back in July I wrote this article which described in detail what the Indians were missing and what I believed led to the Tribe's demise in 2006: veteran experience.

The Tribe teams that went to the World Series had proven vets that had been to the Series to go along with their young talent. Last year they only had the young talent.

This year the Indians have brought in two proven vets from the World Series winning Boston Red Sox team of ott-four.

In addition to having Keith Foulke battle for the closer role, the Indians signed Trot Nixon to a one-year deal today.

Now the Indians have a veteran bat that can fit into the two-hole in the batting order, which was the team's biggest offensive question.

Nixon surely isn't in his prime, but neither were Eddie Murray, Dave Winfield, Tony Pena and Orel Hershiser when they came to Cleveland and made significant contributions in the mid-90s.

What makes it even more brilliant is all the older guys they've signed are only inked for one year leaving many options open for next winter.

The Indians have make a strong move in the right direction this off-season and they've won back the full-heart of this distraught and dissapointed fan.

It's an exciting time to be an Indians fan... as corny as it may sound: Go Tribe!

Long Live Keith Hernandez (whom I will always remember as a Cleveland Indian) You gotta have vets in the clubhouse. I like the general direction this squad is going. If you were partying like say...1999, or 2004 would you have thought the AL Central would get so tough, so fast?

I'm counting on the Tigers being a one-hit wonder, the White Sox continuing their fall back into mediocrity and the Twins continuing being the lovable runners up. Things should be returning to "normal" in the AL Central this year.

I lived in KC for awhile and tried to make fun of the Royals fans, but it always felt like teasing a handicapped kid.

Great pickup, Nixon. Nothing would make me happier than him having a great season and making the Blowsox sorry for signing that waste of DNA, JD Drew. Hopefully he's healthy but I don't see him hitting #2..five or six more likely.

JD Drew, a waste of DNA? He's only a slight genomic alteration away from Stephen, you know...

I don't believe the Red Sox have officially signed JD Drew, have they?

hahaha... yeah Nixon was really the missing piece to the puzzle. How can anybody lose when you've got an injury proned guy who'll be lucky to play 100 games and hit .268 with 8 hrs and 52 RBI? Nixon is a shell of what he used to be in his short little prime from 2001-03. He's aged worse than any player in recent memory and at only 32, he plays like he's Julio Franco's grandpa. I agree the Indians look pretty good, but don't invest too much of your hope in Nixon.

The Indians will definately be in the mix, but the A.L. Central is by far the toughest division in baseball.

and My twins will be the winner of the toughest Division. But Clevland has bad player management. I don't know if I'd be willing to bet on them to do any better than 4th

The Twins have no pitching. Santana and that's it. But I'll give them this: they may finish above the Royals.

The Indians seem to be set up for a nice run in '07. They have some stars, some developing talent, and a few veteran platoons that should produce as well as some star talent around the league. Throw in a great starting rotation and a revamped bullpen with a lot of options, and I like their chances. The biggest question marks will be how the younger guys perform. If Peralta, Barfield, Garko and Marte all do as well as they are capable of, I think the Indians will run away with the division.
