Nicely done Zeke glad to see that coaching the team will not get in the way of making bonehead choices as a GM

Jalen Rose on the roster was already an accounting entry called "money thown away"... WHY bother getting something out of him??

I've never been able to figure out the NBA Salary Cap. I know the at this point Rose's contract will count against the Knicks Cap Space. But if another team signs him, do they have to take over his previous contract? And if so, does take the contract off the Knicks' Books and therefore clear that cap space?

his contract was essentially bought out, contract over (counts toward the cap as if he still was a Knick); he can sign with anyone who he can agree to terms with on a new contract. (Can you say "one year deal at league minimum?")

It ought to be real interesting to see who Isiah gets to replace him . Sure he was making a ton of money, but if it was the last year on the contract, why not keep him thru the year, his stats weren't that bad. I can't imagine there's any diamonds in the rough left out there to justify dumping a proven player.

He's setting precedent: Many people will shown the door this year! (Rose, the coach, the GM, etc)

I laughed when I saw on NBA Live that the Knicks are like $50 million over the cap

Yeah, I find this move kind of strange because Isiah's thing in the past has been to get as many guys with expiring contracts as possible, and leverage that at the trade deadline into some draft picks/younger players. But I guess Rose's trade value had hit rock-bottom (they were shopping him all summer), he wasn't happy because it was pretty clear that he was going to be the odd man out at SF and/or SG, he may have been killing chemistry, etc. So why get him in the first place, if not for his expiring deal? Now he counts against their cap this year, but they'll get nothing in return for him. I guess nobody with cap room wanted him anyway, and the only trade that could have been made would have brought in another huge contract, probably with more years left than the one they already had. I suppose acquiring Rose in the first place was just another case of Isiah not thinking things through before making a deal...

Thanks Isiah! Jalen will sign with the Heat for the minimum, ultimately leading to another championship, and they will all roll their wheelchairs up to the commisioner to receive their rings next year.
