Is Romo the New Brady?

Maybe I'm getting caught in the hype of the most anticipated regular season football game since Ohio State-Michigan. After Tony Romo's terrible yet clutch performance I couldn't help but to compare to the greatest clutch QB in recent history, Tom Brady.
What makes QBs like Brady so clutch is that the game isnt over until the final seconds. As a team, the Patriots do not stop until the game is over, and I think they are the one team that can successfully recover a fumble when the other team is taking a knee.
Romo's final drive Monday night was very Brady-esque, and despite the mediocre -- well, horrible play of Romo, he got the win and that's all that matters. Brady won Super Bowl MVP of Super Bowl XXVI even though he only threw one touchdown and 145 yards -- a very mediocre game when you think about it in those terms. But in the end, all that mattered was that last drive and getting the W.
Considering that both QBs came from nowhere (and put Drew Bledsoe out of a job!), and are the quarterback of a storied franchise, the similarities are obvious. However, Romo will never become a Brady. Why? One, I don't see them winning a Super Bowl without a major defensive upgrade, and second Wade Phillips is NO Bill Belichick. Say what you want about Cameragate, Belichick is the best coach in the NFL, he's tough and he brings the best out of players. Wade Phillips celebrates a close win while Belichick would have been down Romo's throat to make sure that does not happen again. Young QBs need discipline, Romo got to at least his level because of Bill Parcells, and he'll plateau because of Phillips. Belichick is ripping Tom for 2 trips to the Red Zone that should have been touchdowns -- and they won by 17! To be a great QB you need skills, receivers and great coaching, and after Sunday you'll see why Romo will never be a Tom Brady.
