Is Belichick really a cheater?

17

by Behbigben15

After the Pats were caught filming the NY Jets signals last Sunday, and I heard that they did the same thing last year in a game against the Packers, I started thinking: Has he always been a cheater?  We may never know, unless Belichick has a collection of all the tapes of other teams signals.  The Pats punishment wasn't that big, I didn't think.  The Pats were fined $500,000, and will either lose his number 1 draft pick (if they make the playoffs), or their 2nd and 3rd (if they don't).  But, what the even bigger punishment is, is that they are the New England Patriots, and from now on everyone will not look at them as cheaters, and Belichick's dynasty may be tarnished.

Belichick, Roosevelt Colvin, and other teammates have been trying to move on from this, but they just cannot get it out of the way.  Belichick deserves what he got, you can't go around with a camera filming other teams signals.  I would really like to know how long he has been doing this, and whether or not it helped the Pats "so called" dynasty win their three Super Bowls.  L.T. really got a kick out of this, on Monday, he said "If your'e not cheating, you're not trying" is probably their moto.  Belichick's $500,000 was the highest ever fine by a coach, and it was the first time ever that a draft pick was taken away as a punishment.

My view on Belichick has deffinetly changed, I all of a sudden don't like him, and I have lost my respect for him.  THis is a big week in the NFL, and I have a feeling that Belichick din't win those three Super Bowls on his own.  Belichick was also accused, by former LB Ted Johnson, for overruling the doctors and sending him on the field soon after a concussion.  I don't think Belichick deserves to be called a great coach, I do not like him after what he has done to this league.  I haven't even mentioned that one of the leaders on the Pats defense, S Rodney Harrison, was caught taking HGH, and is suspended for part of the season this year.

What other players/coaches said on the topic:

"Belichick is sitting there, and you know he is getting peeved that he is even in there -- the audacity to bring him in and question him, the visual I have is that eventually Belichick kind of snapped and said, 'You're darn right I [did].' "

-Trent Green

"Really, a sad day for the NFL, it's another case of the 99 percent good things that are happening being overshadowed by 1 percent bad. Again, people aren't talking about our product, they're talking about a negative incident."

-Tony Dungy

"All I know is there better not be an asterisk by any of the Super Bowls I was with them, I better call my wife and tell her to put [my rings] in a safe."

-Christian Fauria (ex-Patriot)

"You don't really know for sure, I mean, you don't know whether he might be doing something for NFL Films or a coaches' show or whatever."

-Rod Marinelli

  • Good News:  The camera man that was caught filming the Jets, Matt Estrello, will not be on the sidelines on Sunday night, unfortunately for Belichick.  He said they will change their procedure on that, but Coach just means that they will get another camera man to tape the Chargers signals.  I am glad that Estrello will not be punished, because I am pretty sure that Belichick paid him a million dollars along with all three of his SB rings since he knows he does not deserve them.

So, I guess the title I put down is really a stupid question.  Of course he is a big, fat liar, and cheater.  So, YES,  he is really a F$#%ing cheater, and should be fired and never hired by ANYONE again.  If you don't agree with me, then don't even read this, because I don't care if you have complaints on this article, or if you disagree with me.

The pats punishment is greater than the 750k and draft pick(s)... Its that their reputation and the 'chicks will always be tarnished...no pats fan will ever be able to gloat in the same way about this era, as a 90s Cowboys fan, an 80s 49ers fan or a 70 steelers fan, because of this dark cloud...

Yes, deffintely, I was never a Patriots fan, but I respected Belichick. But not anymore after what has done to the NFL, and the Pats. What is wrong with him? I don't see why he thinks he can cheat, and think he can get away with it. He is always trying to change the subject, and say "Were moving on", whatever, he just doesn't want to reveal all the other wrong stuff he has done, like, let's see maybe give his players HGH, or let his trainers give it to them.

I'm still gloating. The thing is, Belichick doesn't care about things being "tarnished" or "tainted." These words of the day mean nothing to him. The only word that matters is "victory."

Rawbeezeitz, I am right with you here. The Patriots are still the team of the decade, and still a dynasty.

you're still gloating and I'm still pointing out that your team probably cheated...

Lest we forget Rodney Harrison...

I agree with Brian Westbrook...its water under the bridge and what's the point about arguing whether the eagles or panthers or rams could/would have won...

But...the price is that that will always be a harbinger...

Not probably, definitely cheated. But people on this site need to realize that there are degrees of cheating. Pass interference, for example, is a form of cheating. Paying off an official is a form of cheating. Are they on the same level?

Yes, he got fined 500K so I think he certainly is. If he is innocent than he wouldn't be punished. Simple as that.

Oh I certaintly agree he is, however I think this is probably the first time he's done it, or at least one of the few times; if he had been doing it for a while I think he would've gotten pretty good at it by now. (Therefore he would'nt have gotten caught- ahahah)

One of the few times? The SAME guy was caught last year at Lambeau Field when they played the Packers.

"If you don't agree with me, then don't even read this, because I don't care if you have complaints on this article, or if you disagree with me." Geez, that last statement sounds eerily similar to the subject of this article. Anyone want a hot plate of irony?

Here is the reality of the situation. Wrongdoing has been investigated and determined. The punishment for this transgression has been administered. Anything else suspected above and beyond this matter is pure speculation and nothing more. The team wants to move on, the coach wants to move on and the NFL as well. Unless anything else can be proven, perhaps we should as well? Just an opinion.

The thing that gets me about all of this is I'm convinced that, if given the opportunity -- and guaranteed with reasonable certainty that he wouldn't get caught -- Bill Belichick would do this all again. I don't think he's one bit sorry, unless being sorry for getting caught counts. In response to the question in the title of the article, I think he's definitely a cheater, throught and through.

Alright, I have said it before and I will say it again. How about the Dolphins and the Microphone inncedent, they werent fined. How about Mangini useing the Patriot playbook not his own, how about every team that has complained because the Patriots kicked their ass. Im not saying what Bellicheck did is right, I am just saying I believe every team, even perfect little L.T. and the Chargers do it. This shouldnt ruin his reputaion or anyof the superbowls the Pats have won. Now lets move on and watch some football.

Believe what you want, but "perfect little L.T. and Chargers" nor anyone else has been caught doing it. Haven't you Pats patsies figured out that the more you complain the sillier you look?

one question if mangini knew the pats were cheating the entire game why didn't he change up some of the signs at half time to screw with the pats? Thats what i would have done if i was him not wait till the end of the game and complain about it. Another question if the jets won would mangini have said anything at all?

Facts are facts he is a cheaper, liar, misunderstood individual who most likely faced with the same situation down the line would do the same exact thing again regardless of the ending. For one of the best coaches to do something like this to the game that pays his salary is never going to be forgiven. The Pats fans will but NFL fans in general will always consider him a cheaper in some way. Sad of the NFL and even sadder for the fans and the team.

Yes Belichick cheated how else did he beat the Rams on the superbowl. The Rams were clearly the better team.
