Ira Flagstead (Ira James Flagstead) was born on September 22, 1893 in Montague, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on July 20, 1917 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1919, his rookie year, he hit .331 with 5 home runs and 41 RBI. Flagstead played for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 13 year career.

Most people believe that Ira Flagstead's best season was 1924, when he hit for a .307 average.
