Introducing the ArmchairGM User Top 25 Poll

13
Vote

The Associated Press has one. USA Today sponsors a coaches one. There's even a silly one with computer rankings. And now, ArmchairGM has one too.

Introducing the ArmchairGM User Top 25 Poll. The poll can be voted on by any member of the AGM Community, and works much like the ArmchairGM Voting Committee. A first place vote will get a team 25 points, a second place vote 24, a third place vote 23, and so on.

The polls are now open for the College Football Preseason Top 25 Poll, so cast your vote now!

Who knows, maybe someday the BCS will add us into the mix, although some may not enjoy being affiliated with that.

May I make the following request: Please, lets not do a Poll until like Week 5 or 6 into the season. The early season polls are useless. Lets see what the teams do first before ranking them. You know, lets rank them the right way! :)

I think it's interesting to see how the end of the year stacks up against everyone's predictions. Why not take the opportunity to see how good of a prognosticator you are by ranking them all at the beginning, then comparing it to how you rank them in the last week?

Because there is no playoff to correct the mistakes. The schools with the best hype machines get the top billing. And they will not fall until they lose the game. On the other hand, the schools with the good teams but no hype machines gets stuck down in the polls. If there was a playoff, I would say, yes, letsdo the poll from the get go. But that is not the case. So, lets us hold off until we see some results.

Well it's too late now, Christof...the poll is open and people have voted. YOU can hold off till Week 5 but not everyone is going to. (Would you put Miami in the "top billing" category because I put them at like 20th...not all of us are biased :)...)

All polls (AP, USA Today, you name it) are useless anyway, so what's the harm in having a little fun?

I think too many people on this site (not excluding myself) are guided by pure favortism to pull something like this off. It won't be taken professionally enough to put any credibility behind. People will see their school down in the middle of the pack and put them in the top three just to get them some more points.

I may be subject to favoritism sometimes too, but that doesn't mean I'm going to put Wisconsin and their three returning offensive starters in the top 5 just to get them points. I think people, despite their best efforts, can be objective sometimes.
