Introducing ArmchairGM Showdowns

We noticed that the discussions for articles frequently turn into a one-on-one battle. So, we decided to create Showdowns. Think of a showdown as Old West meets sports knowledge. A topic is chosen beforehand, and the debaters will only be allowed to comment. The rest of the users will vote for the comments -- but don't worry, only "plus" comment voting is allowed for showdowns. The comment scorecard will keep track of the winner -- after a period of time chosen by the contestants, the rest of the community determines who is the winner and who is the loser!
We think the possibilies are endless. However, we want to avoid any possible pitfalls, what rules should govern Showdowns? Discuss below to help make this a great new feature for the site.
