Inter-League Pro Hockey a Great Idea
This year, we'll be up to 8 inter-league pre-season games in class AA hockey with the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the ECHL slugging it out. These are usually regional grudge matches between clubs that are in similar geographies but aren't in the same league.
It's a great thing to get the two established, durable Class-AA leagues going at each other on the ice instead of in their boardrooms as they regrided the map of the US with new clubs. What it also signals is that it may be time for the NHL to use these two big hockey marketing engines, rather than TV, to bring more people to the game.
