The Tribe officially started their veteran firesale by trading Eduardo Perez to Seattle for a minor league infielder Asdrubal Cabrera who I really hope is an all-star middle infielder in hiding.
The new guy went to Buffalo and Ryan Garko was called up to take the first base platoon spot with Ben Broussard as they continue the process of moving Victor Martinez to first (although I doubt there in too much of a hurry to start Kelly Shoppach on a regular basis after his error the other night).
Broussard is expected to be the next to go.
As much as I hate to see a season over before July, I guess I now just have to hope they don't screw up the team too much that next year becomes yet another rebuilding year.
"Cabrera, 20, batted .236 with 22 RBI in 60 games at Triple-A Tacoma. He didn't make an error in his first 36 games and leads Pacific Coast League shortstops in fielding percentage."
Well that puts him ahead of Jhonny "Huh? What's defense?" Peralta. Maybe they'll move Peralta to second and play this guy at short. Could be interesting.
