Indians Win in Eleven Innings Day After Rockies Won in Eleven

Just when it looked like we may have a boring postseason, the Indians, came from being behind to take the lead against the Red Sox 3-1 to register a 13-6 win when they scored seven runs in the eleventh inning. It is not too likely to happen, but now they could possibly win three in a row and advance to the World Series while playing in Cleveland.

Neither Fausto Carmona nor Curt Schilling were effective and both ended their stints on the mound with ERA's over 9.00....The Red Sox bullpen was a disaster once Jonathan Papelbon left the game after pitching two scoreless innings. Eric Gagne took the loss and he, Javier Lopez and Jon Lester combined to give up 7 runs, 5 hits and two walks in the eleventh inning, including a three run homer by Franklin Gutierrez off of Lester that sealed the win for the Indians. Gutierrez came to bat in the eleventh inning in a 2 for 19 slump in postseason with no extra base hits before hitting his roundtripper. Tom Mastny took the win for the Indians.

The Indians pounded out 17 hits in the contest with Grady Sizemore, Victor Martinez, and Jhonny Peralta picking up three hits each. Gutierrez and Peralta both drove in four runs in the game. Six Indians are hitting over .300 in the LCS.

Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell both homered and for the second straight night drove in three runs each. Ramirez and David Ortiz both are hitting .500 for the LCS.

It was ironic that former Red Sox outfielder Trot Nixon drove in the lead run in the eleventh inning for the Indians.

The Indians served notice that they can play with the Red Sox and win even when Carmona has a bad night. The next game which will be in Cleveland on Monday night pits two starters who have not pitched well so far in postseason in Daisuke Matsuzaka with a 5.79 ERA going for Red Sox against Jake Westbrook with a 10.80 ERA hurling for the Indians. Regardless of who wins the next two games C.C. Sabathia and Josh Beckett will face each other again on Thursday night.

With the win the Indians became only the second team that was trailing in a series to win a game in postseason with the Yankees having the other win. This postseason needed some games like the games the last two nights when Rockies on Friday night and the Indians on Saturday night posted wins in the eleventh inning. Hopefully this is a sign the LCS will be more competitive than the LDS. The Diamondbacks would like to be the third team that was trailing in a series to win a game tonight but it won't be easy going against the hottest team in baseball. Rockies will try for their 20th win in 21 games tonight and have the home field advantage so have to be the favorite to win. Livan Hernandez will try to keep the Diamondbacks from falling to a 3-0 deficit in the series getting the start against Josh Fogg.

Yes, What the Colorado Rockies are doing is extremely good for baseball. They all look like a bunch of big, strong midwestern farm boys who do nothing but go out and kick butt day after day, night after night. They seem to have more heart and drive in their pinkie fingers than some of these bozoes with nine figure contracts have in their whole body.

To the Boston Red SUX... HA HA! Seriously, that was some 11th inning. And yeah, how ironic was it that Trot Nixon drove in the winning run? Should they get there, I will be rooting for Colorado in the World Series. Actually, either National League team will be on my side though.

J.D. Drew should be hiding somewhere after drawing $14 million for numbers that probably are below the league average.

The word superstar and J.D. Drew don't go together. Manny, Ortiz and Lowell made Drew look like he could be arrested for grand theft for the money he stole from Red Sox and don't forget Scott Boras...he was his partner in crime bamboozling the Red Sox out of $14 million.
