With 81 overs remaining in the day India find themselves battling to save the first test. Ganguly and Karthik both fell early to the seamers leaving the lower half of the order 235runs more to win or to battle out more than half the day. Karthik was dismissed for 60 while Ganguly was out LBW for 40. India are currently 173/5 with Laxman and wicketkeeper Dhoni at the crease. Inida must be hoping that the last recognised batting pair can pull them through or else start praying for the rain.
