India have been eliminated from the World Cup after losing to Sri Lanka today in Trinidad.
Sri Lanka made 254 for 6 from their 50 overs, with late fireworks down the order building on 64 from Tharanga and 59 from Silva.
India lost wickets at regular intervals in their reply, and 48 from Sehwag, and 60 from Dravid was not enough as Sri Lanka won by 69 runs.
India can now only finish third in their group after losing to comparative minnows Bangladesh, who now advance in second place along with Sri Lanka to the Super Eights.
The Indian team were tipped by many to win the competition, but they join fellow Asian team Pakistan home, who were similarly humbled by Ireland.
It shows the growing nature of the game on a global stage.
In the day's other game, Ireland look like ending their streak of success by losing to West Indies, but both teams still advance to the Super Eight.
