Yes, he threw them on the field and not at the ump. It's stunning to me that people still can't make the distinction, and why they're still in denial about Young's assault.

I was only kidding, but since you bring it up, No I don't see the distinction. The only difference is that Delmon made contact with the ump while this freak did not. His actions were just as dangerous, harmful and bad for the game. (Oh, and this manager was both entertaining and white). If these bats hit the batboy would it have been an "assault?"

Anyone wanna explain the minus? Why do you disagree with my statement? Can you really think it's that stupid to say that if someone throws a bat at a person, it's assault? This guy will get a hefty suspension, and he will deserve every minute of it. But honestly, how can you not distinguish between throwing something in a general direction that is not occupied by anyone, and throwing something AT a person?

Once again, you bring race into it, when that absolutely has nothing to do with it. This guy wasn't entertaining, he was idiotic. And we'd have the same reaction as we did to Delmon's actions, except that he didn't anyone, because he didn't throw anything AT anyone. How can you honestly maintain that Delmon's actions were an accident? Where did you THINK he was throwing the bat?

I would, but I'm done with this one. I don't really want to get into it a second time. If a guy hits someone with a bat, and a person maintains it wasn't assault, and that the suspension was only as severe as it was because he was black, there's no winning. MJD can have this one.

You use the same argumwnt that I used about Young. To this day I have seen no evidence that Young was throwing the bat AT the umpire. He was throwing it in that direction much like this guy was. Again, the only 2 distinctions I see are the color of one man's skin and the fact that his FOUR bats didn't hit anyone. There is no justification in my opinion for a 50 game difference in terms of suspension.
