If Rickey Henderson managed the Mets...

If Rickey Henderson was managing the Mets today: The first inning of today's game would have gone something like this....

(Glavine loads bases, Rickey heads to the mound to talk to him)

Rickey: Give me the ball, you're done.
Glavine: But there is no one warming up in the bullpen.
Rickey: Rickey's pitching.

Rickey Henderson for 2008 Mets Manager!

Rickey would pull Glavine's arm out of the socket for that poor pitching performance

Goddamn right that's would Rickey would do. Then Rickey would put Glavine in a cab and send his worthless ass back to Atlanta. Funny, Rickey doesn't remember Glavine pitching that poorly when his 300th win was on the line...

I once saw Rickey play all nine positions at once -- he would have carried the '07 Mets to the playoffs while using ghost runners.

Rickey once hit the ball so hard that it came back the next day and went over the fence again.

Rickey once pitched 14 perfect innings in a game in which he also broke the single-season home run record by hitting 75 home runs. Not possible you say? Rickey doesn't believe in rules or space-time.

I once saw Rickey at a bar in Chicago. He had just left first base at Shea, and was buying everyone a round of drinks on his way to stealing second. Beat the throw by a mile.

I once saw Rickey hit 2 inside the park homers in the same at bat and the Scorekeeper was so impressed that he also gave Ricky credit for 2 triples, 2 doubles, 2 singles, 7 stolen bases, 12 RBIs and the pitching Win and Save, Ricky said afterward "That was nothing, I once had 3 inside the park homers on a walk"
