If Healthy Pennington is Best Option

As a new writer on this site, I had to give my opinion on the biggest situation regarding the New York Jets, my team, going into the new season. That situation is the QB situation. There was a lot of discussion in NY as to whether or not the Jets would take one of the big 3 quarterbacks in the draft, or go elsewhere with the fourth pick. They decided to take Ferguson, lineman, with that 4th pick and it was a good move. As long as Chad Pennington is healthy, he is the man to lead this team to glory.
Of course, the shoulder is a concern. If anyone would say otherwise, they would be completely ignorant. However, if the shoulder is playable, Pennington has to start. For one thing, even healthy, his arm strength is not his strong point. During his 2002 season where he lead the league is passer rating, he was not the guy airing it out 60 yards in the air. Clearly you don't have to be, because Joe Montana wasn't either.
What Chad Pennington is, is the thinking man's quarterback. His success is prided on finding the right receiver in the right place at the right time. Hitting them in stride allowing them to get yards after the catch. That isn't born from arm strength per se. That is born upstairs, and Chad will never lose that. He was a Rhode Scholar finalist at Marshall University, and has been watching game film since he was a child. That cannot be taught, and they need Pennington to run this team.
He also brings an air of confidence when he is on the field that the Jets, and their fans aren't used to. He brings that swagger that you need to have to lead a team to victory.
Furthermore, I can't trust this team to Patrick Ramsey long term. I do think the guy has talent, and didn't get a fair chance in Washington. Gibbs made the switch to Brunell fairly quickly. However, even though the guy has talent, he makes too many bad decisions. Ramsey doesn't put his team in position to win enough, and that is not what we need in a quarterback.
The Jets are a talented team, with the potential to return to the playoffs. For that to happen, they need Chad Pennington.
