I knew the Texans were bad, but not THAT bad

MVN is reporting that Bethel Johnson has been signed by the Houston Texans. Speed demon, PR/KR threat, better than their current situation. No big deal, right?

You'd be right, but read this:

"Johnson is also a veteran player with championship experience from his days with the New England Patriots. As the owner of two Super Bowl rings, his leadership should rub off on the younger players on the squad."

Bethel Johnson is being thought of as A TEAM LEADER? Is this not the funniest thing you've read? Bethel Johnson, they guy who the Patriots sent off because he had a bad work ethic. The guy who has been cut twice in the past year, BETHEL FRIGGEN JOHNSON. A role model.

I think its safe to say the Texans season is all ready over.

Bethel also has a broken foot. That is why he was cut by the Eagles after getting signed. Damage goods dude!

Eh, speedsters don't really rely on their feet anyway.

Wow, did the Texas even sign a tackle to protect Matt Schaub, yet? I'm just curious but if Bethel is being though of as a team leader like you said, Texas season was already over.

I'd guess not. We could give them a good Wr Corps, but I don't think Schaub can throw from his ass

so some blogger wrote it...meh...maybe he just wasn't that informed... I'm suprised, i know i live in NE, but i don't follow the pats specifically and even i knew he was benched...which to me means he's not a leader or a good influence...

MVN tries not to paint themselves as a blog. They actually write good stuff.

That's a good point, FP. Schaub can't throw from his ass.

How do you know? Have you ever seen him try? For that matter, have you ever seen him play QB for more than a game or two at a time? That's right, nobody has, he's an inexperienced backup traded to Houston to turn around the franchise. Good call, Houston.

the point isn't that Schuab is bad, the point is that if the texans don't have an oline, they could have a combination of Brady/Montana/Elway/Marino/Young with no flaws and all those QB's strengths, but it won't matter unless they can thrown from their ass as their being pulled to the ground

I rooted for Bethel so hard when he was with the Pats, but he just never panned out. He was so fast and was a pretty damn good KR, but he just couldn't deal with Belichick, and Belichick couldn't with him. I saw him catch one of his few touchdowns in a playoff game against Tennessee. I think he even failed a physical for one of the teams that signed him initially. Just doesn't have the intangibles to play football at this level.

I know I'm a little late on this, but Bethel Johnson? Bethel? Please tell me nobody spent more than 2 minutes writing on Bethel Johnson. Bethel, we talkin' bout Bethel?
