I got an idea, let's head into this season having done nothing!

As we all know by now, things aren't looking very good in Lebron-land right now. 50 wins and an NBA finals appearance leads me to believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers were close to winning it all, they just had to add a point guard, perhaps tweak some things around, and they were good to go to at least another NBA Finals appearance. This is until much of the Eastern Conference improved. The Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, there are teams that could make a large impact. So what do the Cavs do? Nothing.
Point guards were a lil thin in free agency this year, but with Mo Williams, Steve Blake, and others, you could've had a playmaker somewhere in there. Instead, we add Devin Brown quite late. Now, Brown might end up being what they needed, a nice #2 backup to compliment Larry Hughes. Hopefully Daniel Gibson can make it so not having a good backup won't be devastating. Why am I worried about our backcourt so much? Well, you saw what happened Wednesday.
The Cavs had their butts handed to them by the Dallas Mavericks last night. Z and Drew Gooden had double-doubles, so they're contributing. Without Varejao and Pavlovic still (Pavlovic finally signed, so one down), Cavs fans could be in for a troublesome ride this season. Our defense hasn't been too big a problem, but I'm worried about our stagnant offense. We didn't sign anyone to deal with this, and Varejao's 6.8 points a game are very important, if only for that psychological hustle he brings to the court. As a cavs fan I'm worried.
Now, will Cleveland make the playoffs? Of course, the East would require a .500 record to make the playoffs, and the Cavs having a losing season WITH LeBron is just flat out scary, and in my opinion, not happening. Granted, the Cavs have been under the pro radar every year, but will they hit 50 wins again this season? I'm reluctant to say so. However, I'm holding off on any and all predictions. I mean, we played one game. Against Dallas, the winningest team last year. The key matchup will be against the Knicks tomorrow. If we play poorly against them, then we can worry. Until next beat, let's hold off judgments for about 30 hours.
