I got an idea, let's head into this season having done nothing!

As we all know by now, things aren't looking very good in Lebron-land right now. 50 wins and an NBA finals appearance leads me to believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers were close to winning it all, they just had to add a point guard, perhaps tweak some things around, and they were good to go to at least another NBA Finals appearance. This is until much of the Eastern Conference improved. The Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, there are teams that could make a large impact. So what do the Cavs do? Nothing.

Point guards were a lil thin in free agency this year, but with Mo Williams, Steve Blake, and others, you could've had a playmaker somewhere in there. Instead, we add Devin Brown quite late. Now, Brown might end up being what they needed, a nice #2 backup to compliment Larry Hughes. Hopefully Daniel Gibson can make it so not having a good backup won't be devastating. Why am I worried about our backcourt so much? Well, you saw what happened Wednesday.

The Cavs had their butts handed to them by the Dallas Mavericks last night. Z and Drew Gooden had double-doubles, so they're contributing. Without Varejao and Pavlovic still (Pavlovic finally signed, so one down), Cavs fans could be in for a troublesome ride this season. Our defense hasn't been too big a problem, but I'm worried about our stagnant offense. We didn't sign anyone to deal with this, and Varejao's 6.8 points a game are very important, if only for that psychological hustle he brings to the court. As a cavs fan I'm worried.

Now, will Cleveland make the playoffs? Of course, the East would require a .500 record to make the playoffs, and the Cavs having a losing season WITH LeBron is just flat out scary, and in my opinion, not happening. Granted, the Cavs have been under the pro radar every year, but will they hit 50 wins again this season? I'm reluctant to say so. However, I'm holding off on any and all predictions. I mean, we played one game. Against Dallas, the winningest team last year. The key matchup will be against the Knicks tomorrow. If we play poorly against them, then we can worry. Until next beat, let's hold off judgments for about 30 hours.

Hughes needs to go, he adds nothing for that team.

The East would require at least a 20-62 record for the playoffs.

Just checking but the Cavs did just play one game so far this season, correct?

Yeah, they have 81 more to go, but it's pretty safe to say that they're probably no better than a .500 team (as currently composed. How are they any different (or better) than the Lakers? I cannot comprehend how a team does NOTHING, even signing its own free agents, following a breakthrough year and a trip to the Finals.

On a positive note, Ilgauskas looked positively aerodynamic without hair.

thanks HBP...we need more positive thinking around here... Bald worked for jordan, so it can work for a slightly retarded looking middle-aged and legitimately balding white guy...right?!

The Cavs suck. Your stagnant offense will be a constant. Daniel Gibson is not a legitimate starter in the NBA. Larry Hughes is, and always has been, highly overrated.

I knew the team before I even opened the article. This team is going to have a rough go at it.

The Cavs obviously need to make a move and shake things up. This is a flawed team that's needed revamping for the last two offseasons.

The Cavs neglected the long term when they signed Larry Hughes and traded for Eric Snow (can't go into LeBron's walk year with a backcourt of Jeff McInnis and Ira Newble) but now they're in trouble. The last thing I want to see them do is overpay for more mediocre talent just to shake things up.

Plus, why make a move for Steve Blake when you have Daniel Gibson (and honestly, Steve Blake is the point guard they're looking for? Really?)

So my question is: what's worse, standing pat or making a (bad) move just to make one? Trading for Mike Bibby would've been horrendous, he's injured (again) and he's waaaay overpaid.
