I do loves me some football, yo! - August 9, 2007

Oh fellow football fiends, I am betting all y'all are as happy as I am tonight that the NFL season is ON BABIES!

Tony Romo and the Cowboys beat defending Super Bowl Champs Indianapolis.

The Lions STUNNED Carson Palmer and the Bengals in a surprise late rally that led to a win for Calvin Johnson and the boys from Motown.

I'd love to wax poetic on the beginning of the 2007-2008 NFL season for pages for you tonight my friends and fans and fellow fiends, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Happy Football Season to everyone! What a freaking relief that it is here and finally, sports news will turn to NFL and NCAA football stories cause if I hear one more motherfreaking thing about Barry Bonds, Bud Selig, Hank Aaron or steroids I might just go finally completely insane. heh heh.  So once again, football season is saving my sanity just in time!

-Your Gridiron Goddess (who for the record, HATES earthquakes and last night's LA quake freaked her out badly.)

Right on, sister! But for me, football season started seven weeks ago in Toronto. And before you bad mouth the CFL, just know that there are former USC players up there too.

I'd never bad mouth the CFL-- I do not know a lot about it, but now knowing thanks to you that a lot of former SC players are up there, I feel a "Trojans in the Great Nation of Canada" Gridiron Goddess article coming soon. :) ANd as some NFLers both past and present have had tenure in the CFL--I consider CFL completely legitimate real football. Arena ball? Not. So. Much.

Not much rushing in the CFL, only 3 downs, not 4.

Hmm...I seem to recall people picking Ricky Williams to do the same thing. Yeah, PSU ROCKS, it is football but it is a whole different game. Dominated by QBs, WRs, SBs, and kickers.

In a crucial pre-season matchup that determines who will play third string OLB this season...

I knew I was gonna get some crap for that statement but I can't help it, its the only Steeler football I have gotten since we beat the Bengals in the last game of the season last year (I do believe this kept them out of the playoffs).

Yes, technically I know that--but for whatever reason, I just don't feel like the HOF game counts as a true start of the season. heh. Maybe because it was 1 game, and yesterday was 2 in same day, i don't know.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see what Kordell Stewart has to do with this converstation. Do you actually watch football? I ask this because he has played for both the Bears and Ravens since being run out of Pittsburgh.

Do you remember Kordell as a Raven or Bear...

That's like remember when Aaron Brooks was good (he's also Mike Vick's Cousin...)

Its a reference used to mock you man...relax...my point is its a really meaningless game...

Eh ... my alma mater doesn't start football until the 2009-2010 season. Until then, I'm relegated to rooting for teams I have absolutely no connection with.

Definitely excited about football. Not so much for the preseason though. Could've done the article without the picture. It's kind of umm....... distracting... in a good way though. And any of the rest of you that want to give me shit for writing that, stop.... I'm just saying out loud what the rest of you are thinking.

I kinda wish they made low cut USC jerseys, it would be an appropriate fit in LA.

I don't know about the low-cut stuff. Nothing hotter than a cute girl in an ACTUAL sports jersey, not some mangled and pinkified version of a jersey.

C'mon, think about it for a second, carefully analyze the photo posted here (*cough*lower portion*cough*) and then rethink that theory.

ya the pink variations are awful if a women wore one you can tell 95% of the time they know almost nothing about the team or sport

I loathe the proliferation of pink colored sports things for women almost as much as the women who go all SQUEE over them and buy and wear them. If you are a fan you wear the teams colors, period. Or don't wear them at all--go to the game in a non=sports top/hat/whatever. The women in the pink items just look like idiots, IMO. Only, exception to this is if you are female and 10 years old or younger, then, well, we'll chalk it up to your "I am a girl and I love pink" phase of childhood. heh.

Or if the team has pink colors. Can't think of such a team off the top of my head, but I'm sure they exist. Wait, I got one: the fictional Polk High team Al Bundy played on in Married with Children.

I'm not sure a team is ever stunned in week 1 of the preseason.
