I Wish My Name Were Howard

Due to school and depression over Manny taking my top spot for most promoted opinions, I have not written many opinions as of late. This marks my second one in the last hour (pace yourself!).

Here is a list of three men who have two things in common: mad skills and the same last name.

Dwight Howard

In his third NBA season, this former number one overall pick keeps improving. In his rookie campaign, Howard averaged a double-double with 12 ppg and 10 rpg. Last season, he improved to 15.8/ 12.5. His numbers so far this season are 17.2/ 13.7. Not only does the man score and box-out with the best of the them, but he does it every night. In both of his seasons, Howard has played all 82 games, starting in all but one of them.

Josh Howard

Also a first round pick, although the 29th of the round, this Dallas Maverick has emerged as quite the compliment to Dirk. So far this year, he is averaging 16.7 points per game in his limited time. He does nothing at a superstar level, but does everything well. A normal game for Howard is 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block, and a couple threes. There is nothing this 6.7’’ player can’t do.

Ryan Howard

This man, deservedly or not, won the NL MVP over Albert Pujols. He bashed 58 home runs and drove in 149 runs. His OPS was 1.084. I had the opportunity of watching Howard put up these ridiculous stats for my fantasy team. Thanks Ryan!

It’s times like these I wish I could change my last name.

Pujols is the Susan Lucci of NL MVP awards (if you don't count 05, of course)

I hope Pujols never wins anything again. After what he said about how Howard shouldn't have won because his team didn't get to the playoffs just proves me right when I said he is a spineless prick.

in his defense, Pujols deserved the award.

Offensively Howard was better and since the Defense was only first base it really shouldn't count for much I think the voters made the right decision on the MVP.

I actually think Pujols's offense was better and since Howard was horrific defensively at first and Pujols was tremendous, it should count for something.

There should be two awards. MVP {Most Valuable Player} and MOP {Most Outstanding Player} You don't have to be the most outstanding player on your team, but you can still be the most valuable and vice versa.

there are two awards: MVP (one for each league) and Sporting News Player of the Year (the equivalent of Most Outstanding Player in MLB)
