Chico Fernandez (Humberto (Perez) Fernandez) was born on March 2, 1932 in Havana, Cuba. He made his Major League debut on July 14, 1956 for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1957, his rookie year, he hit .262 with 5 home runs and 51 RBI. Fernandez played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers and New York Mets over the course of his 8 year career.
Most people believe that Chico Fernandez's best season was 1962, when he slugged 20 home runs and knocked in 59 runs.
