Hugh Smith (Hugh Ben Smith) was born on August 27, 1936 in Henreyetta, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Guymon (OK), Smith attended the University of Kansas. Smith made his professional debut in the NFL in 1962 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 1 year career.
