Born on September 9, 1913 in Brighton, Massachusetts, Hugh Mulcahy (Hugh Noyes Mulcahy) played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career. Mulcahy broke into the bigs on July 24, 1935 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 4.78 ERA in 52.2 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Hugh Mulcahy's best season was 1940, when he posted a 3.60 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 82 batters.
